Regimes


What is regime?
            Regime can protect the system for ruling in country.

What is democratic = demos (people) + kratia (government, power, rule)    
            The first time that born of democratic at Athen in 5th century BC, all adults males citizens were equal, had right and duty to attend the general assembly (ten time a year). But the citizens are just small among of rich people. For become the citizens need to born in the rich family and have a lots of money. The first time that born democratic is that people can make the right by themselves. It is call direct democratic.

Direct democracy is difficult to carry out due to size factor.

Representative Democracy

            In the chart can show that Representative Democracy is one in which the people do not rule directly but through elected and accountable representatives.  
Representative Democracy have some characteristics:
            1-Polular Accountability of the government:
                        -Serve the people
                        - Government accountability
                        - Government badly can be vote out…….
            2- Political Competition:
                        -More than one party that people can make choice
                        - Free faire compete (enough time and resources)
            3- Alternation in Power:
                        -The power must change peacefully and legitimately between the winner “ins” and loser “outs”.
                        - Staying in power does not look like democratic, and tend to be corrupt.
            4- Popular representative:
-Voters elect representatives to act as legislators to voice and protect their interest (represent and interest).
            5- Majority Decision:
                        -Majority means that the party have the number of voters higher than other party.
                        - Minority means that the party have the number of voters little than win party.
            6- Right of dissent and disobedience:
                        -people have right to resist the commends of government that are wrong or unreasonable               that is called civil disobedience ( mean that nonviolence to make government to rethink                        again about something that is wrong)
            7- Political Equality:
                        -in the nowadays for the adult that have age 18 years and over who equally able to participate in politics ( one person one vote)
            8- Popular Consultation:
                        -to want to know what people demand
                        - to know what they want
                        There are many methods that the government get the information from the people
                                    1-puplic opinion (questionnaire, server)
                                    2- Press conference (Journalist with the government)
                                    3- Media Dialogue  (people bring the questions to the government)
            9- Free Press:
                        -Press for freedom
                        -Report something
                        -It is depend on level of democracy (determine the degree of democracy in the country)

Different societies can have difference model of making decision.    
Elitism: the few influential people/rulers in a political system
            Ruling class, less numerous,
Pluralists: Interaction of many groups in politic.
            Not a power elite, political functions through interest groups.
Totalitarian: system that state attempts total control of citizens.
